  • AAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

My lesson plans are not done, I’m not prepared for the IEP meeting I have for 8:15am, the DRA database is due to my boss first thing, I have to create a new seating chart for my kiddos at lunch, I have a billion papers to grade, a million copies to make, the science modules have to be inventoried, there’s PTA money to spend, posters need to be laminated…What?  What did you say? Did you say that it’s... summer vacation? HOORAY!!I’m going, with  my favorite girls, out to play!

Thank you, Mr. Silverstein, for your inspiration!

    Sick
    by Shel Silverstein

"I cannot go to school today,"
    Said little Peggy Ann McKay.
"I have the measles and the mumps,
A gash, a rash and purple bumps.
My mouth is wet, my throat is dry,
I'm going blind in my right eye.
My tonsils are as big as rocks,
    I've counted sixteen chicken pox
    And there's one more--that's seventeen,
And don't you think my face looks green?
My leg is cut--my eyes are blue--
    It might be instamatic flu.
I cough and sneeze and gasp and choke,
I'm sure that my left leg is broke--
My hip hurts when I move my chin,
    My belly button's caving in,
My back is wrenched, my ankle's sprained,
My 'pendix pains each time it rains.
My nose is cold, my toes are numb.
I have a sliver in my thumb.
My neck is stiff, my voice is weak,
I hardly whisper when I speak.
My tongue is filling up my mouth,
I think my hair is falling out.
My elbow's bent, my spine ain't straight,
    My temperature is one-o-eight.
My brain is shrunk, I cannot hear,
There is a hole inside my ear.
I have a hangnail, and my heart is--what?
What's that? What's that you say?
You say today is. . .Saturday?
G'bye, I'm going out to play!"

  • I'm back logged on my blogging...

So much has been going on... so much to blog about...

Here are some birthday pictures. I have found something that brings me immeasurable joy: matching outfits for my girls. For their birthdays? You guessed it... MATCHING DRESSES! Thanks Pawpaw!!

    First, An Ode to Nanna:
Steve's mom came up about a month ago to visit & celebrate the girls birthdays with us. My girls had such a great time with their Nanna doing the important things in life -- reading books, playing outside, and... opening presents.

    Second, Thanks Grandma!:
My mom bought the girls an outside swing set & slide. It took Steve about a month to assemble it because of all the rain, but he finally got the best of it -- Abby has been swinging like crazy!! She can't get enough & only gets off the swing to dig up worms (UGH!) to take with her -- on the swing.

    Odds & Ends:
Steve officiated a wedding last weekend for a guy he works with. I am so proud of my man. It was a beautiful ceremony - he did an fabulous job. So well in fact, he was asked to perform 2 other weddings from different people in bridal party getting married in the fall. It's so exciting to see the Lord use Steve in this way - definitely something he's been gifted for. And, I'm not just talking about the ceremony stuff. He really has a burdened heart to share with couples how much Jesus wants their marriage to work. It gives me warm fuzzies seeing couples get excited about making Jesus a part of their lives & their marriages.
I just love seeing the him doing something he loves and has a passionate heart for.

My broken MAC screen has been replaced and I'm livin large again. I am sure of it now, I prefer my MAC any ol'day to a windows machine.

Our standardized testing is over (WHEW!) and I've only got 7 more days of school. And, those days are going to be gravy, folks. We have a field trip, a mega party, a field day, game day, movie day, etc planned. I can't believe summer is so close. Having missed the end of the school year twice (babies born) I had forgotten what an excitement there is around the place. Today we had 3rd grade classroom celebrations. My class had prepared a couple of songs to sing & a dance to perform. My kiddos were outstanding.

  • Time to dig down deep

There are four weeks until CATS testing for Kentucky students. These last weeks before standardized testing is, in my opinion, the most difficult time in the classroom. Everybody is feeling alittle stressed & the kids... are bonkers!!

Things are going good at home - the girls are growing so fast. I'm really looking forward to summer & being with them 24/7. They make my heart smile.

Steve's job has changed again. It really is a blessing because it means he'll be getting home a little earlier consistantly. I think that'll be a good thing.

So, while we were on spring break - we took a beautiful day & went to the zoo. On the way Steve and I were discussing the weather & how nice it was to have the sun out when Abby chimes in...

Abby: The sun is bright too.

Steve: Yes, baby, Jesus made the sun. Isn't it nice?

Abby: Yeth! (yes) and it made my eyes hot!

Steve: *chuckles* maybe we can get you a pair of sunglasses at... (Abby jumps in before he can finish)

Abby: Yeth! I would like blue or purple!

Obviously our little dark-haired beauty has a plan about her summer fashion.

  • Snow Days Rock!

Tomorrow will be the 5th day I have off from school because of a snow & ice storm. WOO HOO!! Lots of people are still without power (that stinks!)so the schools are closed another day because they don't have power either.
We never lost our power ! What a huge blessing!!
The missed school days will have to made up in June -- but it is SO NICE to be at home with my girls. This time has been so precious. Thank you, Jesus for this blessing.

Here are some photos of what we've been up to while the wind blows & the snow falls outside:
    Lots of drawing and painting...

Steve has double shifted every day since the winter storm hit. Very good money, but really long hours. Going into the weekend, he had only slept in increments of 2 or 3 hours at a time. But, he was such a trooper and never complained -- he wants to finish the kitchen cabinets & this was his way to finance them. He might just earn "stud of the week"!

Ok, enough from me... I'll leave you with two more pictures... of faces I adore...

  • Why do you practice your chosen religion? If you don't observe one, why not?

I'm not sure about "organized religion" but I dig Jesus. He has changed my life -- I'm a branch He has plucked from the fire and called His own.
